Digital Ad Specs:

Required File Formats:

PDF/X-1a; composite CYMK; all fonts embedded; 300 dpi bitmaps.

· Note: Trapping is the responsibility of the file provider. Information on PDFs can be found at www.ddap.org or www.pdf-x.com

Unacceptable file formats: Other file types, such as PDF (created on desktop), Postscript, or native applications such as Quark, InDesign, Pagemaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, Freehand, etc. or files saved as .tiff, .eps or .jpeg are unacceptable because they introduce many possibilities for error.

Publisher cannot guarantee the readability of printed type smaller than 6 pt. solid.

All digital files will be held for one year only and then destroyed unless otherwise requested in writing.

Proof Specifications:

It is the responsibility of the file provider to send a SWOP certified proof for color and 1 color (laser) proof for content. If none are provided, the publisher will print the supplied file to SWOP standards. Publisher will not be accountable for errors (color or content) due to non-compliance of proofing specs.

Every ad must have 1 Contract proof (SWOP certified) and 1 color content (laser) proof, 100% to size, which is an identical match to the furnished file. This will allow HFM to ensure content integrity.

Acceptable contract proofs include: Kodak Approval (preferred), Matchprint Digital Halftone, or other SWOP certified contract proofs. All Contract proofs must be made according to SWOP standards, including color bars. Proofs that do not meet SWOP criteria will be used for color break only. See www.swop.org Certification section for SWOP certified proofs.
