Web Infrastructure Technician

Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S., Inc. (HFM), the world’s largest publisher of consumer magazines has an opportunity for a Web Infrastructure Technician. The candidate will provide support to a highly-available 24x7 distributed Linux/Windows web hosting environment.

Responsibilities

Supports 50+ servers in Colo data center
Builds and maintains SUSE 10 enterprise / Windows 2003 Servers
On call 24x7 and responds to system alerts
Diagnoses and analyzes system-related issues to resolve problems and improve performance.

Job Requirements:

1 year experience working with Linux servers (Suse a plus)
1 year experience working with Windows servers
Experience working with web servers (Apache, IIS)
Experience with web related protocols (IP, HTTP, SMTP, DNS)
Experience with monitoring systems (IPSentry, Nagios)
Experience working with Dell Hardware, Openmanage, DRAC

Knowledge:

Some understanding of internet technologies
Knowledge of back up systems and strategies
Basic understanding of HTML
