HAVEN Goes Beyond the Gift with Experiences, Public Service and Events; Preps and Pampers Celebrities for Academy and Independent Spirit Awards

Thursday, February 16 2009 (Hollywood, CA) – After launching in Hollywood for Academy Awards Week in 2007, HAVEN by Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. (HFM U.S.) returns triumphantly to Los Angeles for Awards Week 2009, bright, bold and better than ever. HAVEN transcends the traditional awards venue experience by offering visitors an exclusive daily combination of charitable activities, personal services, entertainment, refreshments and private, VIP/celebrity events each evening. Both talent and media will find ample reasons to linger, to sample and participate in daytime and evening experiences at a luxurious private estate high above Beverly Hills, all with the active participation and coverage of five of HFM U.S.’s media properties including ELLE, American PHOTO , ELLE DECOR, Metropolitan Home and Premiere.

Attending media and celebrities can choose from a range of services including: pampering, spa treatments and personal services from WARREN-TRICOMI hair care, OPI nail products and services and AMERICAN LASER CENTERS; a portrait in American PHOTO’s photo studio with Sony’s flagship A900 DSLR and professional photo tips and consultation from DIGITAL DAYS and SONY ; self-publishing services from BLURB; and more to come.

Premium products on offer include: American Laser Centers; Foster Grant’s legendary family of eyewear. Celebrities “behind those Foster Grants” have included Elvis Presley, Raquel Welch and Woody Allen; Kenneth J. The house will feature the latest in selected services, technology and design, including: gourmet oven-baked meals from Bertolli (served Thursday evening and Friday afternoon); Digeo’s new Moxi HD DVR; Sony BRAVIA HDTVs and Blu-ray Disc Players; and other premium manufacturers. Evoque Candles will produce a signature scent every day throughout the house.

The Creative Coalition (TCC) will be shooting the PSA campaign, “It Starts with the Arts,” from Haven. The campaign with a broadcast and print component will bring together leaders from the entertainment industry and public school children to educate, motivate and activate citizens to support public funding for the arts. The campaign will be released nationally and presented to President Obama, the new Administration, Congress and other influentials to remind them how important it is to support the arts—especially during difficult economic times. The PSA is directed by actor/producer/director Fisher Stevens (Crazy Love, Lost, In the Bedroom, Awake) and written by John Krokidas (Slo-Mo, Jack and Hill), with cinematographer Aengus James (Poliwood, American Harmony). Sony Music consultants will provide daily artist showcases featuring global label priorities Guy Sebastian and Chris Mann, among others, including Russell Simmons’ DJ Idris Elba. Special guest DJ’s will put in marathon sessions on the decks throughout the week.

EVENING ACTIVITIES (BY INVITATION ONLY)

Wednesday, February 18th –Honoring Wrestlemania 25, welcome event hosted by the WWE, featuring more than a dozen superstars and divas including Rey Mysterio; Miz John Morrison; Maria; Kelly Kelly; Kofi Kingston and Maryse; an airbrush tattoo studio and gaming experiences. WWE has launched the careers of Wayne (The Rock) Johnson; John Cena (Renny Harlin’s 12 Rounds) and others; with the success of The Wrestler, who knows what else might happen?

Thursday, February 19th—Chef Rocco Dispirito and his team will host a celebrity party with Bertolli. They will cook alongside The Echelon Club.

Friday, February 20th –honoring Los Angeles’s emergence in fashion, Friday night features a fashion show by Russell Simmons, designers Yanci Fugel, and Taryn Manning and Tara Jane’s new line Born Uniqorn, a performance by Simmons’ DJ Idris Elba and more.
