Staff Changes Within Elle Group

06/30/2008

Samantha Fennell is leaving her position as Associate Publisher of ELLE magazine to work on Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

"Of course I have very mixed feelings about this. Samantha has done a wonderful job here, and I'd hoped we'd be working together for many years to come,” ELLE Group Senior Vice President Carol Smith said. “But at the same time it is actually thrilling to see a highly capable person decide to change her life in order to take an active part in the American political process." Fennell says, “At this crucial moment in American history, I am very proud to be able to support Barack Obama and look forward to transferring what I have learned over the past 15 years about generating revenue for magazines to fundraising for this campaign.”

As a result of Fennell's leaving, Daniel Ragone, Vice President/Publisher ELLE DECOR has been named Vice President/Managing Director, ELLE. In this newly created position, he will oversee fashion and luxury across the ELLE brand. Barbara Friedmann, Vice President/Group Marketing Director, over ELLE and ELLE DECOR, will step in as Vice President/acting publisher of ELLE DECOR.
